To examine the association between hospital performance on Medicare’s Hospital Compare process quality measures and 30-day readmission rates for patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI), heart failure and pneumonia, and for those undergoing major surgery. In addition to the quarterly quality reports, the AAMC also provides a comprehensive list of the national quality measures by performance and reporting program, data collection date, and reporting and performance year. The MMD interactive map hospital tool identifies area of disparities between hospital quality and cost of care. All of the measures in this report are reported on the Hospital Compare website. Mapping Medicare Disparities by Hospital. The more stars, the better a hospital performed on the available quality measures. These measures are included in the Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) Program, Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program (HRRP), the Hospital Acquired Conditions (HAC) Program, and the Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) Program. The overall rating shows how well each hospital performed on an identified set of quality measures compared to other hospitals in the U.S. The goal of QualityNet is to help improve the quality of health care. The odds of 30day readmission in MA were 0.92 times lower than Medicare FFS within the same hospital (odds ratio, 0.93 95 percent confidence interval, 0.890.98). ![]() The AAMC creates and distributes quarterly quality reports to all COTH members displaying institutional performance, along with COTH and National benchmarks, on national quality measures. QualityNet is the only CMS-approved website for secure communications and healthcare quality data exchange between: quality improvement organizations (QIOs), hospitals, physician offices, nursing homes, end stage renal disease (ESRD) networks and facilities, and data vendors. For 62 of 66 hospitals, hospitallevel readmission rates for MA were lower than those for Medicare FFS. ![]()
